Joining Centrex
Why joining?
CENTREX is the major international exhibition industry organisation of Central East Europe. It was established to introduce transparent exhibition statistics based on international experience and practice.

The basic idea was to assist exhibition organisers to undertake obtaining and publishing fully internationally accepted and approved exhibition data - to gain full confidence of the international business society - while the principles and the practical operation is 100% similar to those in West Europe.

The members agree of the unified (commonly used and very strict) exhibition data categories of exhibitors, visitors and exhibition area. This is based on fool-proof processes of collecting, processing and presenting of these data. All the members have to stick to these categories and introduce them on their application forms, publications, press releases etc.

In order to demonstrate this transparency all members accept to have their statistics (after internally processed and prepared) outside controlled, an audit by independent auditor company. The members may thus present only audited (authentic, transparent) exhibition data in their communications. There is no possibility for deviation from this (since it is the core of having CENTREX).

So CENTREX herself is not an auditor company, but CENTREX maintains the international standard of statistics (by proposing the updating of Regulations whenever necessary), regularly consulting it with other international organisations (she is a member of UFI as well) and to undertake the joint publishing of a Central East European Exhibition Statistics Yearbook (of audited, thus transparent, reliable) exhibition data.

CENTREX has become accepted internationally and thus by now there is no question mark to any data confirmed by CENTREX and these data are also included into the pan-European Exhibition Statistics Yearbook.

CENTREX maintains a common web-site with updating and a search engine for getting the reliable data easily. This web-site is also a common platform for promoting exhibitions as an efficient marketing tool.

What are the advantages to be a member of CENTREX?

  • to present the forefront position in declaring the transparency of exhibition data (reliable market values of this marketing tool) CENTREX members excel from others in their countries
  • to have internationally fully understandable indicators thus giving chance and assurance to exhibitors, chambers, trade associations and visitors locally and from abroad that the information they get in advance they are comparable (to justify the investment in participation at fairs)
  • to share the experience of the members in their joint efforts to promote exhibitions as marketing tool
  • to enjoy the joint promotion of their fairs in all CENTREX member countries and elsewhere with high efficiency (e.g. joint brochures) and web-site with very little financial investment

Regular activities of CENTREX

CENTREX collaboration presently is based on undertaking a common and unified exhibition statistics regulation (now applied by 13 members in 6 countries in Central East Europe, already three in Czech Republic - Velethry Brno, Incheba Prague and Vystavisté Ceské Budejovice, 3 in Slovakia - Agrokomplex Nitra and Incheba Bratislava, Vystavisko TMM Trencin, 2 in Poland - Poznan International Fair, Kielce Trade Center, two in Hungary - Hungexpo and V-Trade Exhibitions Ltd. from Debrecen, 2 in Ukraine - Euroindex and Kiev International Contract Fair and 1 in Romania - Expo-Arad International.

The members declare that they fully accept, introduce and implement, apply in their own practice this common statistical method of measuring exhibition data. (The regulation is fully acknowledged by all European exhibition bodies - CENTREX is an associate member of UFI and has a multi-focus collaboration with AUMA of Germany.

CENTREX annually publishes a Central East European Yearbook on exhibition statistics which is distributed world-wide by the co-ordination office as well as the members in their respective countries to spread the proof of excellence. This is also the basis for CENTREX data to be included into the European Trade Fair and Exhibition Statistics Yearbook - collated by FKM Germany for all participating European countries. Then, all statistical data and calendar of events (plus the joint promotion studies, references, testimonials) are continuously available at www.centrexstat.org

From 2001 over and above processing and publishing her members' exhibition statistics data CENTREX Union has started actions of joint promotion of fairs and exhibitions. The aim of this action a continuous effort in the interest of re-acknowledgement of the exhibitions as successful marketing-communication tools. This activity now is partly performed through our Web pages on value of exhibitions to gear up our partners to use exhibitions and fairs with the relevant dedicated purposes to succeed.

Our joint efforts also extend to organising international - with focus on CEE countries - events to emphasise the advantages of face-to-face communication to transfer know-how and exchange of experiences. The first Central East European Exhibition Forum (CEEEF in short) was dedicated to exchange of experience on organising building/construction industry trade fairs (September 2002 in Budapest). The 2nd CEEEF was organised in Brno, on February 22-23, 2004 where we have had the key marketing lecturers, university and college marketing department heads. Our intention was to launch collaboration with them to better educate the students, as training our future clients - exhibitors and visitors alike. For more details please consult www.ceeef.org or link Exhibition knowledge center / Dedicated events.

Also last year we started a joint Central East European visitor survey: to get to know with identical questions how visitors see exhibitions, trade fairs, how important they hold them and what future they see. It was and is our intention to generate sales and marketing arguments towards our exhibitors why they should remain (or come) to exhibit, what the visitors like and why do the visitors come. It appears that the survey results shall be suitable to launch a general campaign to get the right attention and appreciation among the industries and public.
